Dental Technology

Here are just a few of the latest dental technologies that we employ to make your visit as comfortable as possible.

A significant upgrade to the old film-style radiographs, digital radiographs use the latest technology to immediately capture the best image with the lowest radiation.

The advantages of digital include:

  • No wait time. The image immediately pops up on the screen for you and Dr. Voss to look at.
  • The ability to “unwarp” an image to get a better look.
  • Less than half the radiation of the old film style. An entire full mouth series of x-rays using digital (2 milirems) is less than the radiation you get from spending a day in the high country outside Denver, or a single transatlantic flight!
  • We can sharpen, zoom in, and change the contrast of an image to see something of interest in amazing detail.

Using the latest in anesthetic technology, Dr. Voss is able to make getting you numb completely painless (or as close as is possible). The most common thing we get asked is “when are you going to put in the needle?” and the answer is it already happened!

To accomplish this, she does 3 things:

1. Pre-numbing the area with a topical gel custom-made for us by a local compounding pharmacist.

2. Using the latest, triple bevel surgical stainless needles with polished and siliconized cannulas, and wider bores allowing us to use smaller, sharper needles that are felt less. You can read all about the (only slightly scary) research here.

3. Buffered anesthetic. Regular anesthetic is as acidic as lemon juice. By bringing this pH to the same as your body, the pain is nearly eliminated and it works much more quickly. You can read all about the research here.

In an effort to improve our dental practice and provide even better care for our patients, we have the CS 8100 3D imaging system. This powerful multifunction system  enhances our diagnostic capabilities by providing images at a high quality, shorter exposure times, and a lower radiation dose, giving 3-D Cone Beam CT images in up to 86% less radiation than the old Pano machines.

The images produced are highly detailed and contrasted with minimal metal artifact interference, thanks to the high-frequency generator and the latest generation of CMOS sensor and image processing. A greater number of image formats result in consistently clear images. In fact, we can visualize any anatomical situation from every angle, with 1:1 accuracy and without distortion. This allows us to do diagnosis of issues and implant planning more safely and consistently than ever before.

The system also allows us to target the exact area for exposure and the detail level of the image, which means that other tissues around the mouth will not be unnecessarily irradiated—further limiting the patient’s radiation exposure.

All of these features and functions result in better information, safer scans and more informed diagnoses.

We have a laboratory in the office that allows us to make what we need on site for a large number of procedures. This allows us to be an affordable Longont Dentist while still providing the highest quality service and best dentistry.

Things that we make/do in-house (in addition to everything most dentists can do in office)  include:

Night Guards and Night Guard adjustments (Dr. Voss’s Night Guards are a work of art!)Mouthguards
FlippersHawley Retainers
Invisible RetainersInvisible Aligners
Wax upsPour ups
Chairside VeneersComposite orthodontic buttons (like metal ortho brackets but tooth colored)

A majority of the steps in the denture and partial denture process. This includes making the design casts, custom impression trays, master casts, and mounting on the articulators ourselves. This results in better fitting, more precisely made dentures and partial dentures.
